Search for permanent makeup prices in New York and you will find everything from deal-site specials to four-figure quotes for the same service name. The gap is real, and it is not random. Here is what is behind it, what is usually included, and how to compare quotes so you are weighing like against like.

What you are paying for

  • The artist’s training and track record. Permanent makeup is a tattoo on your face that you will wear for years. Years of practice, formal training, a state tattoo license and a long healed-results portfolio all cost the artist time and money, and they are the biggest driver of price.
  • Pigments and supplies. High-retention, cruelty-free pigments, single-use needles and proper sterile setup cost more than the alternatives.
  • Time. A careful first session includes a consultation, mapping, shade selection and the work itself. Rushed appointments are cheaper to run.
  • Location. A private Manhattan studio costs more to operate than a shared suite elsewhere, and that is reflected in prices across the city.
  • The service itself. Multi-session corrective work such as lip neutralization or scar camouflage is priced differently from a single-session treatment like a lash lift.

What is usually included, and what is not

Most quotes cover the initial session only. The perfecting session several weeks later, which refines the result once your skin has healed, is often priced separately, as it is here. Annual or biennial refreshes to keep color crisp are a separate appointment too. When you compare two prices, ask whether the perfecting session is included, how long the artist allows for the first appointment, and what the deposit and cancellation terms are.

The cost of a bargain

Correcting permanent makeup is harder, slower and more expensive than doing it well the first time. Pigment that healed too dark, too cool or in the wrong shape has to be lightened or neutralized over several sessions before new work can go on top. A low first price can become the most expensive option you had.

How Madison prices

Current pricing for every service is shown as you book online, so there is never a surprise. A non-refundable deposit reserves your appointment and is applied toward your service, and perfecting sessions are priced separately. The policies page has the details, and the services guide explains what each treatment involves so you can book the right one.

Quick questions

Is the perfecting session included in the price?

Here it is priced separately and confirmed when you book. Always ask, because artists differ and it changes the real total.

Why do prices vary so much between artists?

Training, experience, pigment quality, appointment length and studio location all differ. The service name on the menu tells you very little about what you are actually getting.

Where can I see current prices?

In the online scheduler. Choose a service and the current price and deposit are shown before you confirm.

Ready when you are

Every treatment starts with a consultation mapped to your features. Appointments confirm instantly online.
